El Faro is a community radio network on the Chapala lakeshore. This page tells you honestly what the network covers today and what is on the way. What already works is marked live; what doesn't exist yet is marked planned.
Hoy la red da servicio en dos poblaciones de la Ribera: Chapala y San Antonio Tlayacapan. Eso es todo — no más, no menos. Si estás en cualquiera de estas dos zonas, es muy probable que alcances la malla con un equipo de radio LoRa.
Today the network serves two towns on the lakeshore: Chapala and San Antonio Tlayacapan. That's it — no more, no less. If you're in either of these two areas, you can most likely reach the mesh with a LoRa radio.
Todavía no cubrimos Ajijic, Jocotepec ni el resto de la Ribera. Cuando digamos que llegamos a un pueblo nuevo, será porque de verdad hay un nodo activo ahí — no antes.
We do not yet cover Ajijic, Jocotepec or the rest of the lakeshore. When we say we've reached a new town, it will be because there's genuinely an active node there — not before.

Today the network leans heavily on the internet bridges. The goal is for messages to hop radio-to-radio over RF and keep arriving even when the power or the internet goes down. That's the heart of the project: the network that doesn't go out.
